California Trip 2012

I was this close to completely giving up doing this post (as usual, circa paris-amsterdam) but I told myself, No! I will and must actually go through with something for once! So I finally opened up my pictures folder, scanned through it and fell in love all over again. That's why I'm here.

Took a 16 hour flight (my longest yet!) to San Francisco airport with a short transit in.. Seoul! Ahhhhh I've always wanted to go to Seoul so imagine my happiness when I found out. Sadly, I was only allowed a measly what, 30 mins at Duty Free? So I dragged my mom with me to the Laneige counter to pick up some moisturiser and the Night Sleeping Pack that I've been hearing so much about. It's a lot cheaper there as compared to Singapore, in fact all the skincare products are so much cheaper there! I would've probably hauled a lot more if I could.

We touched down around noon, picked up our rental car and navigated our way straight to Napa Valley, about a couple hours drive from SF. Checked into our hotel/resort, The Meritage Resort and Spa, it's this amazingly lovely place with fireplaces, award-winning restaurant and a vineyard for their backyard. We opted for the patio room with a vineyard view!

(forewarning: get ready for 12 days worth of #ootd Outfit of the Day in bedroom slippers)

Lazed around in our room for a bit before heading down to the Concierge to get directions to go to the Town centre. And town was well... sparse. Empty, zero shopping or malls, just this stretch of road quite similar to Katong but definitely less bustling. The streets were mostly adorned with a lot of restaurant and eateries. Saw an occasional museum and theatre as well!

Eventually settled for "Killer" Mexican Food. Got introduced to the American portions and for once, my family couldn't finish our Cola! And you're talking about a family who guzzles a good 10 litres or so of Coca Cola a week. Anyway we headed back to the resort after for more R&R because I'm pretty sure we were battling bad jet-lag.

Oh it was apparently supposed to be Summer at that time but I remember the weather being a perfect 20 degrees, slightly chilly when the wind blows, but otherwise air-condition weather. Why can't Singapore's summer be like that too?

Check out my full album here! I'm still in the midst of updating it with more pictures, I'm probably about halfway through!
