And so I begin my last installment of my Bali trip right on time because I'm headed to the lovely Baguio city of the Philippines tonight! I'm so excited for the cool mountain weather, non-stop horseback riding and the pubbing Nana promised me and E hehe. This horseback riding trip has been one I've been anticipating for for so long!!
Will be gone from 29th April to 4th May
Thubing hahaha don't be fooled by its somewhat boring look, I flew out of my seat a couple times and had to hang on to the sides so tight I almost had blisters.
& the lovely Mr Balon! A really really nice guy who took the time to really sit down and talk to us and tell us about life in Bali from a Balinese perspective.
A nice quiet beach we just happened to stumble upon while exploring Nusa Dua
And yet another accidental encounter. A cliff overlooking the beach, however being two lazy bums we decided to not take the walk/climb down to the beach and instead just soaked in the magnificent view from where we stood.
Ahhhhhhh my love, Bakso!!!!! This roadside dish is easily one of my favourite Balinese dish ever. Costs just about 10,000 rupiah per bowl ($1.50sgd) and comes with meatballs, noodles, cabbage, some crispy dumpling, egg and the rice cake. My mouth is already watering just looking at the pictures...
I made this rule while in Bali, to eat traditional Balinese food/roadside at least once a day. Because Bali is so accustomed and made for tourists, you can very easily find italian, western or chinese food just about anywhere but the traditional Balinese food? That's hard to find. And in my opinion, I've always made it a point to eat their local food when I'm overseas because that's how you really get to experience their culture and country.
What better place to eat local food than from the streets? I LOVE street food. I've had the best food ever on the streets of Paris, Bangkok, Amsterdam and Italy. One of my best meals I had in Bali was in this random shop at the back of the alley selling rice with dishes and goodness, the soup and dishes was amazing. So if you're heading overseas my number 1 tip to you would be, eat street food.
Guess I'm lucky to be blessed with a pretty strong stomach too hahahha
And there you have it, my Bali trip! All in all I loved it, 5 days wasn't that long afterall because Bali is actually a pretty big island. In fact, I didn't manage to visit all the sights I initially wanted to, so I guess I'll have to leave that for next time. And yup, I did say next time because there's no way in hell I'm not heading back again! When I grow up... I'm going to take weekend getaways to Bali for the beach the spas the sports the people the streets and of course how I could ever forget, the food.
